Camden on the World Stage

Camden Community Garden has hit the world stage, over the past 12 months this community garden has attracted visitors from across the globe and below is just a snippet of where our worldly visitors have come from:

Australia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the USA.

Now budding green thumbs, here is a bit of a quiz, we would like to hear the various uses you may have tried for the pictured produce. You may want to name them first :).

The left and right images have both been grown successfully in the Community Gardens here in Camden and with great success.

The images at the bottom and right were taken in the Leppington East area of sydney, an area which is presently undergoing one of the biggest changes since early settlement. The farm where this vegetable is growing grows several vegetable crops ranging from chillis and eggplants to pumpkins, the recent spate of wet weather reaked havoc with this farm putting over 1m of water through the property as well as wiping out the pumpkin crop, but as you can see by the photos wet weather didnt damage this tall vegetable crop.

It just shows that it does pay to diversify and not put all your eggs in the one basket, this crop once cut will re grow to about 5 feet over the course of the next 5 months. (depending on frost tolerance)
